BEVERLY HILLS, June 09, (THEWILL) – With the presidential directive for the relocation of Military Command and Control Centre for Counter-insurgency Operation  from Abuja  to Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen Kenneth Minimah and Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Adesola Amosu, Tuesday , expressed optimism that the war on Boko Haram would go on smoothly.

The two service chiefs expressed this optimism in Maiduguri while speaking with journalists on the instruction  by President Muhammadu Buhari.

“There will be change now and Nigerians should expect tremendous improvement in our fight against insurgents and terrorists. The time we’ve lost, we’re closing up. There is always going to be change except that we still have some administrative issues that we have to attend to in Abuja for other parts of the country but Mr President is determined to end this operation within short time,” the COAS said while speaking with journalists at the base of the 79 Composite Group of the Nigerian Air Force.

According to Minimah, the movement of the MCCC was to further add impetus to the fight against Boko Haram. “We’re highly optimistic that this time around, we will end the security challenge,” Minimah said, adding that Nigerians are well  aware that the military were having an upper hand  against Boko Haram .

He said  the relocation  of the Command to Maiduguri would deal  the final blow on the insurgents.

Minimah disclosed that the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 7 Division, Maiduguri would  still be coordinating  the counter-insurgency operation, saying  the military  would now be given the needed support to win the war.

“We are at war and what the military need is more support,” he said.

Also speaking in the same vein,  the Chief of Air Staff,Amosu,  said the Military Command and control centre was essentially a process of authority.

According to Amosu, “In the armed forces generally, we’re operating on the concept of centralised control and the execution is often decentralised and domicile where the operation are taken place.”
