David Mark Elected Leader Of the 8th Senate
SAN FRANCISCO, June 09, (THEWILL) – Former Senate President, Senator David Mark of the minority Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been elected Leader of the 8th Senate.
Senator Mark's election is in fulfillment of an earlier agreement reached with new Senate President Bukola Saraki, of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who had sought the support of the PDP's 49 Senators to clinch the senate president seat.
Saraki, who did not enjoy the support of majority of the senators elected on the platform of his party, was elected unopposed by 57 senators while 51 other senators mostly from his party were at the International Conference centre attending a meeting with party leaders.
There are 109 senators at the Senate.
