Udom Re-dedicates Akwa Ibom To God, Declares 3-days Fasting

In a bid to seek God's guidance in the affairs of the state, Governor Udom Gabriel Emmanuel has declared a 3 day fasting and prayer for Akwa Ibom state, with a call on concerned citizens of the state to join him and his wife in the spiritual exercise which begins Monday to be rounded off on wednesday.

Making the declaration, sunday at Ibom Hall grounds, during a state inter-denominational thanksgiving service to usher the new administration and to re-dedicate the state to God, the governor who re assured the people of the state of his determination to fulfill his campaign promises, said as a christian, the tenets of the Christian faith will be his model in piloting the affairs of the state.

“This is the planting season for us. We intend to run the state with the fear of God.

Transparency, righteousness, tenets of christianity will be my model in leading the state".

While promising to run a transparent and focused administration that will benefit all, the governor who paid glowing tribute to his predecessor in office, Chief Godswill Akpabio for transforming the state in the past 8 years, pledged to sustain the tempo of development.

The prayer and fasting which begins monday, will be rounded off of wednesday by 6pm at the Banquet hall, Government House, Uyo.

Mr. Udom who earlier read the first bible lesson from 1'st Kings 3 vs 1-20, re affirmed his belief in the efficacy of prayers, and thanked his spiritual father, Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, the CAN Chairman, Arch Bishop Cletus Bassey and members of the clergy for honouring his invitation to join him in leading the state to God.

Earlier in his homily, Dr. Uma Ukpai of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, UUEA Incorporated, who drew his text from Joshua chapter 1 verse 1 to 6, commended the governor for deeming it necessary to commit his administration to God.

He declared that the state is bound to 'taste' the first industrial experience under the new administration of Udom Emmanuel. The servant of God noted that the state was already on her way to greatness, and advised the governor to select only men of integrity, filled with the fear of God and who share the passion of selfless service with him to work in his government.

He enjoined the governor to be at peace with his enemies, and assured that since he was on the right path, his enemies will be defeated by God.

The cleric was optimistic that the new leadership in the state would continue from where the former governor stopped and wished his government well.

The thanksgiving service which had in attendance the immediate past governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio and his wife, Ekaette, Speaker and Members of the State House of Assembly, service chiefs, and former Chief of Air staff, Air marshal Nsikak Eduok, former exco members, PDP Chairman, Obong Paul Ekpo, party chieftains and elders, featured praise and worship, prayer of thanksgiving and intercession, as well as presentation by the Government House Mass Choir.
