EX-GTBANK OFFICIAL FACES PROSECUTION

A former employee of the GTBank, Titilope Owolabi, was on Wednesday charged before an Ebute-Meta Chief Magistrate's Court in Lagos for allegedly defrauding customers of N2 million.

Owolabi (29), who was charged with conspiracy, fraud and stealing, however, pleaded not guilty.

But the prosecutor, ASP Innocent Effiong, insisted that the accused, a marketer with the Lekki branch of the bank, had a case to answer.

Effiong said the accused, with others still on the run, collected the money from Uvie Edeghor and Benjamin Akporuarho under the pretext of opening a fixed deposit account for them.

The prosecutor said the offence was committed on February 15, 2009.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr. Philip Ojo, granted the accused bail in the sum of N300,000, with two sureties in like sum.

The case was adjourned till May 6 for further hearing. (NAN)
