2 kills, 10 rescues in fire incidents in Adamawa in 2014 review-Fire service Boss

Two persons were confirmed killed in fire incidents in Adamawa in 2014.

The state Director fire services, Alhaji Abdullahi Adamu made this known to Newsmen in Yola on Monday

According to the Adamu fire service in Adamawa under took a review of 2014 and found that only ten people and property worth twenty five million naira were safe from the fire disaster in the year under review.

" In 2014 fire incidents , two persons killed, while 10 people were safe across the state." Adamu said.

He said that in the year under review a total of 102 fire incidents were recorded across the state with the Yola North ( Jimeta) Local Government Area leading with sixty five incidents.

On the fire safety revenue generation, he said that the total target of 2014 was five million naira but due to insecurity challenges it able to realize on ly two million naira .

" Last year, five officers were sent to course for fire man ship training to enable them pick up with modern fire fighting techniques." Adamau added.

He complained for lack of people cooperation and support especially while on duty to quench fire outbreak.

Adamu identified lack of functional fire fighter equipment both in the headquarters and three other sub stations of the state as among the major constrains affecting effective service delivery of the department.
