The Speaker, Imo state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu, has congratulated Christians in the state over the commemoration of this year's Easter celebration.

In his Easter message to Christians which was released by his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Mr. Emeka Ahaneku, the Speaker also admonished Christians to ensure tolerance and peaceful co-existence among their neighbors.

He reminded Christians that the sufferings, crucifixion, death and most importantly, the resurrection of Jesus Christ redeemed mankind from eternal damnation, adding that such rare feat exhibited by Christ also reconciled man with God.

Rt. Hon. Uwajumogu, further maintained that the ultimate sacrifice made by Christ for the love of mankind should be an indispensable virtue every Christian must strive to emulate in our daily living.

He also used the occasion of the Easter celebration to acknowledge the peaceful dispositions of the people of Okigwe zone and the state in general, during the conduct of the last weekend's elections, pointing out that the peaceful role adopted by the electorates, irrespective of the perceived and deliberate provocations, showed that the people of the state were more favorably disposed by the things that unites them, rather than the things that divide them.

The Speaker however, urged well-meaning people in the state to always remember the less-privileged individuals amongst them as they celebrate, while wishing all, a peaceful and rancor-free celebration.
