Polls: Remain Calm And Peaceful, Shehu Of Borno Urges Nigerians

BEVERLY HILLS, March 26, (THEWILL) – The people of Borno State and Nigerians at large have been urged to remain calm and be peaceful during the general elections starting on Saturday.

Making this call on Thursday was the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Umar Garbai El-Kanemi, who also called for efforts to ensuring the success of the polls.

Maintaining that “What peace does not achieved, violence and intolerance cannot achieve,” the Borno monarch called on all politicians to preach the gospel of peace and eschew all forms of bitterness.

He urged them to consider the unity, peace and progress of the entire nation as paramount that cannot be compromised for any political or selfish gains.

The Shehu of Borno, while stressing that the state and Nigeria as a whole is undergoing a trying period in its history, urged the need to focus on issues that will bring about lasting peace, unity and stability.
