2015 World Poetry Day: Foundations Unveil New Poetry Album

As part of activities to mark the 2015 World Poetry Day, the Splendors of Dawn Poetry Foundation and the Abuja branch of the Association of Nigerian Authors will unveil a new poetry album on the 21st of March 2015 during the World Poetry Day celebration in Abuja.

The album, titled Raising Our Voice, is the fruit of a two-year effort that involved the Foundation and the Abuja branch of Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA-Abuja). Produced by Isu Media Limited in collaboration with iRecord, the album features some of the best known names in the literary scene in Abuja including Dike Chukwumerije, Hajo Isa, Ahmed Maiwada and Eriata Oribhabor.

According to Ayo Ayoola-Amale, the Accra-based founder of the Foundation, the poetry album is set to bring poetry to all Nigerians and to highlight the importance of oral tradition in poetry as a way to reach the masses.

The 2015 World Poetry Day, which will feature the unveiling of the much awaited poetry album, holds at Thought Pyramid Art Gallery, 18 Lebrevile Street Wuse II, Abuja by 4:00 pm on 21st of March 2015.

Themed "Raising Our Voice for Peace and Sustainable Development", this celebration of the global day of poetry in Abuja is a joint project of ANA-Abuja, Splendors of Dawn Poetry Foundation, World Poetry Movement, Halima Factor Initiative and Something For Everybody Ventures.

In the same vein, Abuja based radio stations including and television channels are also set to mark the World Poetry Day by featuring interviews and poetry reading on selected programmes during the day. Interested lovers of poetry can tune in to NigeriaInfo by 8am, Wazobia FM by 10 am, Cool FM by 11 am and NTA to enjoy these shows celebrating the art and practice of poetry.

Splendors of Dawn Poetry Foundation is registered as literary NGO in Ghana and Nigeria.
