All is now set for the eagerly awaited Ogoni Peace Rally slated for Bori headquarters of the Ogonis on Wednesday 25th March 2015. The event is put together by popular Ogoni music diva and one time chairman of Rivers State Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria, Lexy Mueka (a.k.a Lexy M).

The event is expected to be a wake-up call to all Ogoni sons and daughters home and in Diaspora to unite, co-operate, tolerate one another and embrace peaceful co-existence between themselves.

In a chat with the convener of the event, Lexy Mueka who hails from Zaakpon community in Khana LGA he said “ Ogonis are PEACE loving people but it pains my heart to see my people fighting against themselves; this is why we have resolved that whatever it is that has turned my people against themselves must as a matter of significance be corrected” he said.

The man who is also described as the pride of Ogoni youths further lamented that it is unfortunate that people now live and visit certain parts of Ogoni land in abject fear consequently reducing the level of businesses and investments in those areas.

Mueka noted that no sane person or investor will want to risk his cash or investments in an obvious area of rancour, turbulence and brazen criminality. “For this reason I felt I needed to do something that will redirect my people's mind, raise some level of awareness and serve as my own social intervention responsibility to my people” he said..

He urged all well meaning Ogoni people to come out en masse for the Ogoni Peace rally slated to hold on Wednesday 25th March 2015 at Bori the headquarters of the Ogonis to all join hands to send a message of hope and solidarity against, VIOLENT ELECTIONS, KIDNAPPING, SEXUAL ABUSES, ROBBERY, THUGGERY among other SOCIAL VICES.

Hear him: “I am doing this with the ultimate belief that as a celebrity who represents the entire Ogoni kingdom and who is truly loved by his people - hoping they will listen to my cry and message of peace and unity. I have succeeded in speaking to various non-partisan groups and bodies in Ogoniland and I'm quite elated that they have all agreed to join me in this struggle. I insisted on non-partisan groups because my observation is that recent problems in Ogoniland could possibly be blamed on cheap political lies by certain politicians in a bid to convince the people in order to score cheap political points and votes” he was quoted as saying.

The vibrant Ogoni youth re-orientation crusader explained that the consequences of all of these should be a major concern for every Ogoni son and daughter, regretting how the present situation has given rise to the worrisome trend of brothers killing brothers for political reasons.

“The Ogoni interest should be supreme and paramount above any individual or sectional interest. Every Ogoni should learn from the example exhibited on the floor of the Senate by Very Distinguished Senator Magnus Ngei Abe who had every opportunity to scuttle the ministerial chances of another of our Ogoni brother, Hon. Kenneth Kobani who is from a rival political party but however chose to support his nomination as a minister no matter the odds.

This exhibition is a plus for the Ogoni people. We must make our decision based on the best interest of the Ogoni people. We must not sacrifice the generality of Ogoni interest on the altar of personal or partisanship and must remember that we are one indivisible people” he concludes.
