The Lagos State Government on Wednesday inaugurated a 13-man committee for the state's records and archives policy as part of its efforts to preserve and manage records in the state.

Speaking at the inauguration of the members of the committee in Lagos, the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Opeyemi Bamidele, said that it became necessary to have such a body due to the modernisation of information services all over the world.

He said, 'It is not just a question of entries but of documentation, preservation and management of key actions taken by all public and private authorities in their life cycles at every point.'

Members of the committee include the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Establishments, Training and Pensions, Mr. Adesegun Ogunlewe, who will act as chairman; Mrs. B.A Dapo-Thomas of the same ministry; Mr. B.
