INEC says results of presidential, governorship elections will be announced wthin 48 hours

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said it will announce the result of next month'spresidential and governorship election within 48 hours after the end of voting.

A National Commissioner in the commission, Hajia Amina Zakari, said the changes in the election timetable had enabled the commission to perfect the process, explaining, “The commission would treat observations and ensure smooth conduct of the election proper and to avoid hitches and criticisms.”

She spoke on Saturday in Birnin Kebbi, the Kebbi State capital,  during a public sensitisation and practical demonstration of the accreditation and election processes, meant to familiarise the electoral officers with the voting procedure.
