Mustafa Bello led over Six Thousand decampees to the All Progressive Congress in Kontagora during the party's campaign tour in Niger North Senatorial District,( Zone C) of Niger State.

The report says "Also, while receiving decampees from the People's Democratic Party led by Engr. Mustafa Bello, one of the aggrieved governorship aspirants in the last primaries of the PDP in the state" the report added that "The publicity secretary of APC, Mr. Jonathan Vatsa told journalists that so far, 13,500 decampees have been received by the party in the zone and that Mustafa Bello has defected with six thousand of his supporters"
