SAN FRANCISCO, February 07, (THEWILL) – The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Attahiru Jega, late Saturday night announced new dates for Nigeria's general elections.

The Presidential elections and National Assembly elections earlier slated for February 14 will now hold on March 28, 2015, while the Governorship and State House of Assembly elections which was previously scheduled for February 28, will now hold on April 11, 2015, the chairman of the electoral commission said in a press conference.

Mr. Jega said the electoral commission opted to reschedule the polls citing warnings from security chiefs, who advised that it could not guarantee the safety of the electoral process.
