Biafra National Youth League, leading African Youths?
Biafra National Youth League was established on the 3rd of august 2013 in Port Harcourt the Capital City of Rivers State, South-south Nigeria. The body started in an infinitesimal way, but today, with the support of great hands, deft thinkers and adroit youths, the BNYL Organization under the leadership of a young Biafra activist Comrade Obuka Chimezie has gotten to it leviathanic position.
ACHIEVEMENTS
Biafra National Youth League, an institution based in Eastern Nigeria with the primary aim of bringing together youths from across the defunct Eastern region, the present day South-east, South-south Nigeria and South-west Cameroon as regions co-joined by mother nature, and people with similar culture and history into unalleviated struggle for Biafra. The group believes that the aboriginal inhabitants of the oil rich Bight of Biafra indicated in the old map of Africa must work for the freedom and unity of Biafra as indigenous people.
The BNYL has succeeded in uniting the people of former Eastern Nigeria, the current two geo-political zones boosting the economy of the country but always being neglected in the area of development.
Having signed a Memorandum of Understanding, the group is now extending membership to Bakassi peninsula and South-west Cameroon.
Biafra National Youth League is now enjoying the support of various ethnic groups of Biafran origin, having its Deputy President-General Comrade Effiong Essien from Efik, Cross River, its National Coordinator Comrade Lucky Zuokumo Egebesi from Ijaw ethnic group in Bayelsa State, its Director of Mobilisation Comrade Iwisoro Julius from Uhrobo ethnic group in Delta state, its Mariner Comrade Udome Victor from Isoko race in Delta State, its Director of Students Affairs Comrade Thomas Kingsley Ifeanyi from Anioma-Igbo in Delta State, its Director of Cultural Affairs Comrade Jeffrey Nwosiba from Ekpeye (Sub-Igbo group) in Rivers State, its Director of Finance Comrade Christian Chukwueloka from Igbo-Ukwu in Anambra State, its PRO, Comrade Rofem Obenten from Abi tribe in Cross River State, its Secretary General Comrade Kevin Obieze from Igbo-Ukwu in Imo State.
Others are States Chapters. Bayelsa State Chapter, Imo State Chapter, Enugu State Chapter, Cross River State Chapter, Rivers State Chapter, Ebonyi State Chapter, Akwa-ibom state Chapter, Abia State Chapter, Anambra State Chapter, Delta State Chapter, South-west Cameroon province with each state having a general Coordinator.
On the 11th of august, 2014 , the Biafran National Youth League took part in the International Colloquium organised for the Igbo people, which was held at the IGBOZURUME UNITY CENTRE, Emene Enugu, in Enugu State. The Colloquium was organized by Igbo intellectuals, elders, clergy, women and youths from within and outside Nigeria. Aim of the Colloquium was to mobilise the Igbo in the Conference setup by His Excellence, President Goodluck Jonathan. After taking part in this Colloquium, The Biafra National Youth League started making wide consultation, mobilizing support for the National Conference.
Recently the Biafran Elders Forum known as the Supreme Council of Elders of indigenous People of Biafra Chaired by HRH Rtd Justice Eze Ozobu, a former President of the apex Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo inaugurated a Governing Council also known as Indigenous Government backed up by Bilie Human Rights Initiative currently championing the Biafra and Nigeria Legal tussle in Court.
Biafra National Youth League was officially adopted as the Youth Department of indigenous people of Biafra under Customary Government. The Organization is mentored by first son of late Biafra Warlord, Chief Debe Odumegwu Ojukwu as Grand Patron.
Biafra National Youth League also has international link with other Youth Leagues in Africa among which are Barotse National Youth League in Zabian state, Southern Cameroon Youth League in Cameroon Republic etc. and groups in Nigeria like the Cross River State Political Network led by a famous Cross River activist, Prince Michael Abuo and lots more.
The group has promised not to relent until had achieved the apex of its objective which is realization of Biafra Independence in a non-violence and peaceful approach.
