Corrupt Government Officials Won't Be Spared, Buhari Assures
SAN FRANCISCO, February 03, (THEWILL) – Corrupt government officials have been advised to turn a new leaf as they will be made to face the full wrath of the law under an All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidency.
The APC Presidential candidate, General Mohammadu Buhari, gave this warning on Tuesday, saying any public official who betrays the trust of Nigerians and illegally enrich himself or herself under his administration would not be spared.
Buhari, who gave the warning while speaking at his presidential campaign rally at the Pantami International Stadium, Gombe, also promised that there will be no hiding place for corrupt elected officials, including governors, and all other government officials in his administration.
According to Buhari, “We must do away with corruption as well as develop the Nigerian economy if we are elected into office by the grace of God. Any elected official that is elected or appointed to serve under me must be transparent because if any of them embezzles public funds, he will face the consequences.”
The APC candidate also promised to ensure an improvement in the electricity supply in all parts of the country, and to revive moribund industries to tackle unemployment.
“Our youths are suffering and walking round the streets without employment but we will strive to make them gainfully employed, so as to disengage them from vices that can destroy their future,” Buhari said.
He also promised to collaborate with advanced countries, to revamp the agriculture sector, saying schools would also be given a facelift and qualified teachers would be recruited.
In his remarks at the rally, the National Chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun called on the electorate to vote massively for APC in the forth-coming elections to guarantee progress and development.
He also urged all members of the party to obtain their permanent voter cards in order to vote for candidates of their choice.
APC Leader in the state, Senator Danjuma Goje, described General Buhari as the architect of change even as he urged the party's faithful to vote out the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) at the elections and also defend their votes by ensuring that the votes are counted in their presence.
This is as the governorship candidate of the party in the state, Alhaji Inuwa Yahaya, expressed the hope that APC would emerge victorious in all the elections in Gombe State.
