Monarch Seeks FG's Assistance For Hong Community
SAN FRANCISCO, January 18, (THEWILL) – The District Head of Hong, Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State, Alhaji Umar Mahmud Babangida, has called on the Federal Government to come to the assistance of his people.
The community, which has been ravaged by Boko Haram insurgents, is presently in dire need of basic amenities of life.
The monarch made the call Saturday at a media briefing after receiving relief materials donated by one of the illustrious sons of the community and the Adamawa Central Senatorial candidate under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Dr. Idi Hong.
He lamented that property worth billions of naira were destroyed by Boko Haram insurgents in the town.
Maintaining that the people have virtually lost everything they had laboured for in years to the Boko Haram insurgents,he expressed his gratitude to Dr. Idi Hong for the gesture, saying he was the first person to associate with the people in form of assisting them with relief materials.
The monarch stressed that the gesture will go a long way in alleviating the suffering of the victims of the insurgency.
According to the monarch, “Our son is the first person to bring relief materials since our relocation back into the town. We are grateful for the show of love at this critical time in our lives. We urge the Federal Government, well spirited individuals, donor agencies and other intervention agencies to come to our rescue.”
He disclosed that hundreds of houses, including business centres, government institutions, and worship centres have all been destroyed by the insurgents,” adding ” Many of us have been turned to destitute while our lives have been completely shattered.”
The Chairman of Hong Local Government Ahmed Isa, who also spoke at the ceremony as well as the donor, Dr. Idi Hong, called on the Federal Government, the state government and other well- meaning Nigerians to come to the aid of the people.
