41 Boko Haram Killed, As Army Reppels Attack On Biu

No fewer than 41 Boko Haram terrorists were killed, while several others injured when they attempted to invaded Biu town, the headquarters of Biu local government area of Borno state.

A resident of Biu Mallam Iliya Garba said that the insurgents came through Garkida with over 15 Hilux Vehicles but before they entered the town, the military engage them before the arrival of two fighter jets. According to an eye witnessed, the fighter jets bombard their position, killing many of them; many were killed during a gun duel with the military.

He said those of them who infiltrate the town were also being pursued and arrested by the Biu youth Vigilante popularly known as Civilian JTF who mobilizes their members massively to arrest the escaping terrorists.

A Civilian JTF Bukar Ibrahim who took part in the operation said he personally counted 41 corpses of the insurgents, while 4 Hilux Vehicles and 1 Amoured Personnel Carrier hoisted with flags were recovered from the insurgents.

“ As I am talking to you now we have arrested 4 insurgents and we are looking for more of those who have infiltrated the town with a view to mop up those who might have hidden in town”, Ibrahim said on phone.

A female resident of Biu who does not want her name in print told our correspondent on phone that even women were not left out, as they came out en-mass with their mortars and sticks in readiness to defend their communities, as according to them they were being pushed to the wall and have nowhere to ran to .

She said “it is a fight to finish, we came out en-mass to defend our community as, we don't want to be refugees as you are aware they have sacked a lot of communities in Borno state, we are ready to resist them”.
