It however was a no-contest as all the credible aspirants for the party ticket boycotted the event which was conducted by Wike's leg-men.

Wike's emergence may have cleared the path for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Hon. Dakuku Peterside, who has been reportedly waiting in the wings to draw support from aggrieved PDP aspirants.

At the end of today's exercise, chairman of the electoral committee, Hon. Etifa Bekeakpo said Wike polled 1,083 votes to beat his closest 'rival' who scored 21 votes.

Ogoni-born Senator Lee Maeba polled one vote. Maeba is hoping to become Wike's running mate.

Pointblanknews.com had in a chain of reports predicted that Wike would emerge winner of the primary election having planted his men in all the committees that conducted primary elections in the state.

The event was witnessed by Wike's cheerleaders, including former governor Peter Odili, PDP state chairman, Mr. Felix Obuah, and party chieftain, Chief Sergeant Awuse, among others.
