President Of the Senate, Senator David Mark has urged Nigerians to turn to God as the only sure way out of the nation's security , political and economic problems.

Senator Mark was optimistic that God will heal the land “only if we turn to Him to salvage the myriads of crisis facing the nation.

Addressing members of the Youth Prayer Network of Nigeria, (YPNN) during the flag off of national prayers to heal the nation in his Apo , Abuja official residence , Mark said “what the country is passing through at the moment is a test of our faith . We must be steadfast in our prayers that God will save Nigeria.

“What we need now as a nation is sincerity of purpose. Sincerity on the part of every body ; the government and the people. With prayers, our country will see the end of this insurgency and God will totally heal our land.”

He reiterated his call for free, fair and credible elections in 2015 , adding that Nigerians should continue to do the right thing both in the present of God and in the sight of men.

On the new prayer group, the Senate President charged youths across the country to embrace the network as the needed agents of positive change towards building a greater Nigeria.

Earlier, the Co-ordinator of the YPNN Rev. Father Charles Ndubuisi said youths across the nation have come together to raise their voice to God in the midst of the lingering crisis and to seek change of attitude among the younger generation.

He explained that the group came together to offer prayers to God to end the issues of insecurity, corruption and unemployment in the country saying, “We have come together to raise our voices to God. The future belongs to young people and as youths by implication, we are praying for ourselves too”.

Rev. Father Ndubuisi called on Nigerians to believe in Nigeria and develop friendship across board just as he expressed optimism that Nigeria shall overcome her present challenges.

At the event, the Senate President was decorated as the Worthy Ambassador of the YPNN.

Earlier in the week, the St. Mulumba Catholic Chaplaincy, Apo where Senator Mark worships embarked on Novena, a popular catholic prayer for divine mercy especially in times of trouble.
