A High Court of Taraba State
Friday declared as illegal a medical panel set up to determine the medical condition of the state governor, Danbaba Suntai.

The court presided over by Justice Silas Haruna granted a perpetual injunction restraining the state Assembly its Speaker, the medical panel and the executive council or its agents from interfering in Suntai's office as governor.

Ruling on the case filed by Suntai, the trial judge opined that the resolution by State Executive Council mandating the House Speaker of the state Assembly to set up of the panel usurped the powers of the judiciary.

The judge held that setting up the medical panel despite two pending suits relating to the same matter were before the High Court and Supreme Court was contemptuous of the powers of the judiciary.
