Ekiti govt assures workers of payment of August, Sept salary

The Ekiti State Government has assured public servants in the State of payment of their August and September salary, left unpaid by the immediate past administration of Dr Kayode Fayemi.

Special Assistant to the State Governor on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, who debunked insinuations that the government was not ready to pay the August and September salary, reiterated the readiness of the State Government to pay all outstanding entitlements of the workers.

He said the decision of the government to pay October salary was because of the paucity of fund, adding that the immediate past government of Fayemi had already collected the Federal Allocation for the months of July and August that should have been used to pay August and September salary.

"Governor Ayodele Fayose is striving very hard to get fund to be able to run the government and pay outstanding entitlements of workers. The workers should therefore ignore any insinuation that their August and September salary will not be paid," Olayinka said.

On the government decision to adopt pay-at-sight for the payment of November salary, Olayinka said; "The e-payment system used by the immediate past government has been discovered to be fraudulent.

"The people operating the e-payment are operating it like a cult, with the software not released to the government and we wonder why the State government will have to rely on a private firm, paying millions of naira as consultancy fee for the payment of salary into workers bank account.

"The government has therefore opted to pay November salary at sight so as to know the actual wage bill of the State and the real workers receiving salary from the government."
