Nweze swears-in as new Supreme Court Justice Wednesday

The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Aloma Mukhtar, will on Wednesday swear in Justice Chima Nweze as new Justice of the Supreme Court.. A statement by the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court, Mr. Sunday Olorundahunsi, stated on Tuesday, 'The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR has approved the appointment of Hon. Justice Chima Centus Nweze as a Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria after a confirmation by the senate, in accordance with the provisions of Section 231 (2) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. 'Consequently, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Aloma Mariam Mukhtar, GCON, will on Wednesday 29th October, 2014 Swear-in Justice Nweze as a Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. 'Until his present appointment, Justice Nweze who hails from Enugu State was a Justice of the Court of Appeal, Calabar Division. 'Justice Nweze will be replacing Justice Christopher Chukwuma-Enneh who retired as a Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in April, 2014 after attaining mandatory retirement age of 70 years. 'The Swearing-in will take place by 10am at the Supreme Court main Court Room.' It could be recalled that Nweze's appointment as Justice of the Supreme Court was recently approvedĀ  by President Goodluck Jonathan. Nweze, who was of the Enugu Division of the Court of Appeal, is to join the 16 existing JSC's in the country
