Troops Crush Boko Haram Fighters In Konduga – Borno State

SAN FRANCISCO, September 16, (THEWILL) - Federal troops Wednesday killed several Boko Haram fighters who made another unsuccessful push to take Konduga, a town few miles from Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.

Military sources said clashes between soldiers and the terrorists raged through the night for almost 12 hours before the terrorists were repelled.

Analysts are of the opinion that the capture of Konduga remains strategic for the Boko Haram as speculations remain rife that it plans to stage a major attack on Maiduguri.

A DHQ tweet, which confirmed the battle said, 'Troops are now combing the vicinity, in a cordon and search operation to determine the heavy casualties suffered by the terrorists in the encounter.'

Soldiers, according to the Ministry of Defence captured '3 Hilux vehicles, 1 Amoured Personnel Carrier and a cache of arms and ammunition.'
