New Transformer Contract: Borno Group Hails FG
A socio- political group,Borno Development Alliance has hailed the Federal Government for its attention to the power needs of Borno state,leading to the award of contract for a new 60 MVA transformer to improve power supply to the state .
In a statement issued after its monthly meeting held in Abuja,the group observed the negative effect of the insurgency on infrastructural development of the state and commend the Federal Government for not abandoning the people of Borno even when insurgents are destroying major infrastructural facilities across the state.
” We dont want to engage in blame game. We dont want to play politics with the misfortune the Boko Haram sect has brought on our people. We want our leaders to make the best use of opportunities available under this very difficult circumstances. That is why our members commend the Jonathan government for pushing ahead with the reconnection of Borno to the national grid and approving a new transformer for our state.
“We note and laud the spirited efforts of Hon Mohammed Wakil,the minister of state power on resolving the electricity challenges . We in particular want to put it on record that minister through the support of the Presidency jas broken a jinx by having a New transformer added to the Baga substation built since 1976.This is in addition to the fast tracked completion of 330KV transmission substation and the ongoing reconnection to take Borno out of darkness”, the statement signed by Barrister Alibe Mohammed noted.
Aside commending the minister,the group further tasked him to follow through all the ongoing projects not just in the power sector but in other areas as “an able representative of Borno state in the Federal Executive Council.
“You are bound to be attacked and criticised. What we urge you to focus on is service delivery like the reconnection you are pushing through and the transformer contract just approved by the FEC”, the group noted..
