Barr. Emperor Iwuala To Head Imo NUJ Freedom Of Information Desk

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Imo State Council has established a Freedom of Information Desk to enable journalists in Imo State utilize the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) in their jobs.

According to a letter issued to that effect by the Imo State Council Chairman of NUJ, Sir Innocent Igwe, the Desk will among other things, organise workshops, work on the capacity of journalists towards the application of the Act and liaise with relevant Departments and Agencies towards the achievement of the Freedom of Information law by media practitioners in the state.

The establishment is to be headed by the former Chief Press Secretary to the Imo State Deputy Governor; a legal practitioner/journalist, Barr. Emperor Iwuala while Ahudia Onunuju, Emma Iheaka, John kennedy Uzoma, Ngozi Ihekere and Ifeanyi Nwanguma will serve as members.

The Desk is expected to be inaugurated on Wednesday July 23rd by 4pm at the NUJ Press Center, Port-Hacourt Road Owerri.
