Group Pays Courtesy Call On Delta State Independent Electoral Commission

And Promises To Partner With Them

In a bid to ensure free and fair election that will return credible individual into various offices in the forth-coming Local Government Elections, a political Group in Delta state poised to propagate good governance; Delta Decides(DD),paid a courtesy call on the Delta state Independent Electoral Commission(DSIEC) on Tuesday 8th July, 2014 at Asaba to intimate the body on its plans to partner with them.

The board of trustee chairman of the Group, Mr Egbonimali Shadrack, intimated the Commission that they were in the Secretariat to brief them on the activities of the group. Mr Egbonimali noted that the group is poised to preach good governance by educating the electorates to seek accountability from its elected representatives. In his words " we are working round the clock to meaningful engage all Deltans on different fronts in the various communities across the 25 local government areas of the state to meaningfully engage all concerned for the common good of Deltans".

Mr Egbonimali noted that they are willing and ready to partner with the commission to ensure the forthcoming Local government elections are free and fair thereby ensuring credible candidates are returned elected.

The Cordinator of the group Mr. Darlington Okonma requested that the group be allowed an opportunity to be observers and Ad-hoc staff in the election.

The Commission's Chairman Mr. Moses Ogbe, who is saddled with the responsibility of conducting a credible Local Government election come October 25, noted that the visit was coming at a right time as the commission is willing to conduct a fair polls and as well willing to partner with any group to ensure that Deltans elect their choice candidates.

Mr Ogbe stressed that the commission's Criteria requirements for being Observers and Ad-hoc staff will be stated and communicated to them in due course. He added that his Commission has capable hands that are poised to conducting a free and fair election in Delta state.

Mr Ogbe therefore thanked them for their visit and promised to partner with them.
