"The allegation that Governor Godswill Akpabio plans to eliminate prominent monarchs of Ibibio extraction in Akwa Ibom has been described as malicious, unfounded and concocted lies intended to generate ethnic tension in the State..." - Aniekan Umanah, AKS Commissioner for information.

Every time the planned mischief of Godswill Akpabio are exposed before they are executed, Aniekan Umanah would be quick to come on the internet and describe the allegations as "malicious, unfounded, and concocted lies intended to generate ethnic tension in the State."

About three or four years ago, Aniekan Umanah sang the same mantra when there were rumors that Akpabio was planning to assassinate Edidem James Robert Obot, who was at the time the Paramount Ruler of Nsit Ubium Local Government. A week after the rumor had stopped circulating, Edidem Obot was assassinated. Till this day, Akpabio has refused numerous calls for him to set up a Commission of Inquiry that could look into the assassination of the monarch.

About two months ago when there were rumors that Akpabio was ready to hire an "outsider" to assassinate someone who was opposed to his ambition to represent Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District as a Senator, Aniekan Umanah described such rumors as "the height of mischief by political jobbers who are bent on scoring cheap goals for their pay masters."

Few days later, Chief Albert Ukpanah, who was well known as the key leader among those who are opposed to the ambition of Akpabio, was assassinated in cold blood.

Just two days after I "broke" the story of the assassination of Ukpanah, Aniekan Umanah called my house in the United States and pleaded that I should retract the story. Needless to mention, I refused to oblige his request.

To cover up and divert the attention from the assassination, Akpabio had to come up with a strategy in which the only son of Ukpanah had to be falsely accused of the crime and is now languishing in prison, while Akpabio is going around the country thumbing his chest in victory and boasting that no one can touch him.

As if all these were not bad enough, just yesterday, a prominent Akwa Ibom journalist----Mr. Thomas Thomas of the Global Concord---is in detention, arrested for posting an article that exposed the diabolical activities of Godswill Akpabio. As I write this, the fate of the journalist is not known and there are speculations that Godswill Akpabio might have already ordered for him to be killed.

It is very likely that the reason Edidem Umoette of Etinan and Edidem Ime Udousoro Inyang of Ibiono Ibom are alive today could be due to the fact that the plans by Godswill Akpabio to assassinate them were exposed and made public early enough to thwart his diabolical plans.

As for Commissioner Aniekan Umanah, he is talking rubbish.

Say no to imposition. Akpabio must be probed!
