BEVERLY HILLS, CA, June 30, (THEWILL) - Rampaging Boko Haram gunmen Monday in Borno State continued their reign of terror as they killed the son of a council chairman and set a Divisional Police Station on fire when they stormed Shani Local Government Area of the state.

Shani, which shares boundary with some parts of Adamawa State, is located in the southern part of the Borno State and lies about 245 kilometres from Maiduguri , the state capital.

Local sources told THEWILL that the marauding gunmen, who also set many other buildings, shops and vehicles on fire in Walama , were said to have wreaked havoc in the town using Improvised Explosive Devices and petrol bombs.

The caretaker chairman of Shani council, Alhaji Modu Walama, who had escaped series of attacks by assassins and terrorists in recent past, escaped being killed by the insurgents by the whiskers when his family house in Walama was attacked.

But one of his sons was not that lucky as he was killed by the gunmen who were annoyed that their target had once again escaped.

The gunmen also bombed the Divisional Police Headquarters, setting one of the patrol vehicles ablaze when they discovered that most of the policemen on duty had fled the area.

The terrorists who stormed the town on motorbikes later fled towards Gwaskara village after the operation.

THEWILL could not reach the Police Public Relations Officer, Borno State Police Command, Mr. Gideon Jubrin, for comments as at the time of filing this report.
