Ogoni Community in the US Endorsed Professor Don Baridam for Rivers Governor 2015 under PDP Platform

The Nyo-khana Community in the United States has collectively endorsed the candidature of Professor Don Baridam for the governorship race to the brick-house come 2015.

Rising from a leadership conference of the group held on June 8, 2014 in Atlanta Georgia, USA, the group unanimously agreed to place their support behind one of the brightest elites from Rivers State, Professor Don Baridam of PDP. The chairman of the group Mr. LeBari Nziidee stated that, Professor Don Baridam met the criteria and would be able to move River State from its poor infrastructural and massive unemployment to a progressive state. In his speech, he said one of the worst problems Rivers State has being facing is the duplication of leaders, who has no mission or agenda, but pursue to protecting their political interest. In other for the wealth of the state to trickle down to the masses, a purposeful leader must be elected. Professor Baridam's wealth of experience could be traced to the progress he made in the University of Port-Harcourt as a two term Vice-Chancellor. The infrastructural development, peace, fairness and tranquility among the different ethnic interest in the University of Port-Harcourt were credited to his special skills in management, administration and people's person.

We enjoin all educated elites in Rivers State to support one of their own and move Rivers state forward from political strangulation to true democratic state. As oil head-quarter of Nigeria, Rivers State is yet to take the form of one of the wealthiest state in Nigeria. Lagos and Abuja currently enjoy their infrastructural status as economic and political headquarters of Nigeria respectively, except Port Harcourt which continues to lock up in high traffic jam with countless unemployed graduates roaming the streets.

Also present at the leadership conference, was the Secretary General of National Union of Ogoni Students International, USA (NUOS) Mr. Sampson Baridooh Npimnee. The Secretary General described Professor Don Baridam as a charismatic leader that will create values for the people of Rivers State, adding that Don, if voted in will replicate his fiduciary practices at the University of Port-Harcourt as Rivers Governor. Mr. S. B. Npimnee thereby urge the good people of Rivers State (All working adults, the unemployed, traders, famers, fishermen, people in their respective human capital and students in all higher institutions of learning) to support Professor Don Baridam for a great change in Rivers State.

The group supports the electability of PDP in Rivers State and equally supports the leadership of PDP in the State. However, to borrow words and ideas from Comrade Asari Dokubo, 'PDP must not feature any candidate that may give APC the cords to aid them bringing in a Regional party to Rivers state''. PDP is the only party that could unit cross-cultural and Ethnic State like Rivers state. The incident at the just concluded convention of APC where the South-South people were openly marginalized by Bola Tinubu would tell you what kind of people we are dealing with. In the very words of a former member of APC, and former minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, 'APC is a gang of slave owners with slave master mindset, who think they were born to rule, evil doer, killers and terrorists'. Their supporters have the in-house slave mentality that sees nothing wrong with their slave master; provided the slave master is feeding them with crumbs. We must resist them from coming to Rivers State and must not come through the back door of Governor Rotimi Amaechi and company.

We also want to use this opportunity to thank the PDP number one citizen of Rivers state (Hon Nyesome Wike) for the good work of weathering the APC hurricane in the State. We support you and we are with you as you and the rest leaders rationally, and on merit, pick a viable and electable flag bearer for PDP in Rivers State. Professor Don Baridam is the answer.
