By GODDAY ODIDI

The National Co-ordinator of Ijaw Monitoring Group (IMG) Prince Comrade Joseph Evah recently gathered citizens of South- South to mark June 12 Anniversary of Late Chief MKO Abiola, the Re-burial of Isaac Adaka Boro and Public presentation of the book' The Journey of Transforming Nigeria of President Goodluck Jonathan.

According to Prince Joseph Evah said Isaac Adaka Boro was the first Nigerian to declare separate Republic before the Igbo nation and he fought a good fight to liberate Ijaw nation from the then oppressive governments in Nigeria while Late Chief MKO Abiola was a hero of Democracy. Both hero and martyr had wonderful visions for the country. Isaac Boro lived from 1938 to 1968 while MKO Abiola lived from1937 to 1998.

My purpose of writing this book' The journey of Transforming Nigeria of President Goodluck Jonathan is to prove to Nigerians that Niger-Delta has competent people and President Goodluck Jonathan is not a failure. Within three, he had executed several projects across the country which no president has done since 1960.He has touched all sectors of the country. Goodluck Jonathan has improved on his leadership. I wondered how some political leaders using the media to fight against President Goodluck Jonathan that has great vision for Nigeria come 2015.Boko Haram is a political fight and Jonathan should not be blamed on various ferocious attacks on innocent Nigerians. We want Boko Haram to release our Chibok girls for peace to rein Nigeria. We all South- South people must support President Goodluck Jonathan for second term and nothing else. I authored this book to prove to non -South South people that we have brains to think and write. President Goodluck Jonathan remains one of the best Presidents ever produced in Nigeria.

He added' I am here today to award some credible Ijaw women leaders who had done marvellous works in promoting the South-South region'. I have respect for mothers in Nigeria. My wife has stood by me in my trying period. This book has a Yoruba version too. We want people to come out to write on other tribes and we shall distribute these books across all national libraries in Nigeria. Ijaw Monitoring Group is all about promoting Niger- Delta people and that is why we will continue to support President Goodluck Jonathan for second term. We want him to work for the people and to get their votes, he said.

Mr Azu Akanwa, the Vanguard newspaper editor who doubled as the book reviewer said the journey of Transforming Nigeria of President Goodluck Jonathan contained 157 pages and 67colouredpages highlighting the achievements of President Goodluck Jonathan and others great Nigerians that fought for the emancipation of democracy in Nigeria. He also stressed that the book is readable to all Nigerians that want to the know the transformation of Nigeria from 2007 till date. Joseph Evah is a great Niger-Delta author to emulate in Nigeria.

Ann Briggs who was the chairperson of the event said both celebrated heroes today were history makers who fought for the actualisation of democracy. Isaac Adaka was a man of large heart who believed on the emancipation of Ijaw nation. He fought a good fight for Ijaw nation. Who ever envisaged that Goodluck Jonathan will become the President of Nigeria? 'I want to say this Jonathan is not in safe hands because of political Boko Haram in the country. We must pray for him because since 1960 till date no Nigerian President has done what President Goodluck Jonathan has done in Nigeria within three years of his leadership. We must fight to finish for him to complete his second tenure.

Alhaji Asari Dokubo who was a guest speaker and also marked his 50th birthday bash said President Goodluck Jonathan is a complete gentleman to the core but we must support his political ambition because he is our son and brother. Nobody can stop Jonathan for 2015, he said.

Esther Boro, the eldest daughter of the late Ijaw martyr, Isaac Adaka Boro said my father was a great man but died as a poor man in course of fighting for the liberation of Ijaw nation. He was a great emancipator of our time. We must toe the same path of his legacies he left behind especially us the children. I also thanked Joseph Evah for celebrating my father.

Ijaw Monitoring Group also empowered some credible Niger-Delta people with refrigerators, popcorn machines, sewing machines, dryers, generating sets and cash gifts. All the bodies under IMG were all present at the event while other representative of MKO Abiola, Presidor Ghomorai, Tony Oronta and others in attendance.
