MEGA PARTY, ONLY VIABLE OPTION TO CHASE OUT PDP

By NBF News

Former governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa has said that a mega party remains the only viable option to dislodge the incumbent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the helm of affairs in the country.

To this end, he urged all patriotic forces to forget their personal interests and differences with a view to realizing this fundamental objective.

Speaking to reporters in Kano yesterday, he said ' we (the opposition) have to team up come 2011 and form a formidable party to wrest power from the ruling party, else the teeming masses of Nigeria would continue to be subjected to the undemocratic leadership the nation is presently witnessing in the hands of the PDP.'

The former governor explained that what should matter most to the opposition politicians at this moment is how to reason together and therefore come up with practical measures and processes that would lead to the dislodgement of the PDP, noting that the party's ten years in the saddle had brought only untold hardship to the people of Nigeria.

He explained it is for this reason that himself, the former ANPP's presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, former vice-president, Atiku Abubakar and other notable politicians from other zones of the country have been meeting in the recent past on ways to democratically dust the PDP, noting that they are determined to send the PDP to political dustbin in 2011.

He stressed the need for the electorate to play their part in the struggle for change by casting their votes for a party that is capable of providing answers to their aspirations.

Bafarawa said that Nigerians are tired of the ruling party, while appealing to the electorate to rally round and support the emergence of a truly democratic party in 2011 that will lead them to victory.
