Nigeria head coach, Stephen Keshi, is expected to take a final stand on AS Monaco left-back, Elderson Echiejile, this weekend ahead of the 2014 Fifa World Cup finals in Brazil.

Echiejile has been sidelined by a hamstring injury since the international friendly with Greece and has been training separately from the squad under the supervision of the team doctor, Ibrahim Gyaran.

The former Sporting Braga defender has undergone a scan and it has been revealed that the result remain inconclusive.

'There is no conclusion on Elderson yet. The team doctor has been working on him and a final decision will be made later today concerning his status by the head coach (Stephen Keshi),' spokesman of the African champions, Ben Alaiya, told supersport.com from Jacksonville in the USA on Saturday.

Keshi also echoed same words this week that there will not be a hasty decision on the injured left-back as he is considered one of the top players in the Nigerian squad for the World Cup.

'We don't have to rush things, as we are talking of the World Cup here, not just any other competition so we have to be careful what we say here regarding our top players,' Keshi said after Friday's training.

Echiejile remains unavailable for Nigeria's final World Cup warm-up match this Saturday.

Nigeria are still permitted to make a late replacement in the case of Echiejile being ruled out of the World Cup before their first game against Iran on June 16.
