Winners Emerge In Promasidor Quill Awards

BEVERLY HILLS, CA, May 28, (THEWILL) â€'Kunle Falayi, a journalist with Punch Newspaper was adjudged to be the Overall Winner at the second edition of the Promasidor Quill Awards which took place on Saturday 24th May 2014, at the Grand Ballroom, Eko Hotel & Suites in Lagos, Nigeria.

Other winners are Gbenga Salau of the Guardian Newspaper for the Best Report on Nutrition, Adekunle Yusuf of the Nation Newspaper for the Best CSR & Industry Report of the Year while Ayodele Ojo of the Sun Newspaper picked up the prize for Best Photo Story of the Year.

Odogwu Obinna of the Sun Newspapers and Daniel Obi of Business Day were adjudged Future Writer and Brand Advocate of the year respectively, Best Report on Children was jointly won by Kunle Falayi of the Punch Newspapers and Isioma Madike of the Telegraph while Kunle Falayi of the Punch Newspapers picked up the Education Reporter of the Year Winners from all the categories with the exception of the winner of the Best Photo Story of the Year were given high-end laptops while the winner of the Best Photo Story of the Year was given a high-end camera.

As in the previous year, all winners will be given supplies of Promasidor Products and for capacity building, will be enrolled in a 6-weeks certificate-awarding course at the School of Media and Communications at the Pan Atlantic University, Lagos. For being the Overall Winner, Kunle Falayi will also attend a four-week all expense paid multimedia journalism training course with the globally acclaimed international media development organisation, Thomson Foundation in London followed by a one-week work placement with a prominent British national news organisation.

The panel of judges who declared the winners in the highly contested competition were made up of professionals committed to media excellence among whom were veteran journalist, Ambassador Patrick Dele Cole, Kadaria Ahmed, former editor of 234 Next, Joseph Okonmah, Chairman, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Lagos Chapter and Reze Bonna, a renowned celebrity photographer and Architect.

In his remarks, Chairman of Promasidor Nigeria Limited, Chief Keith Richards said that because of the often unappreciated nature of the media profession, the Quill Awards was launched as a platform for recognizing and rewarding excellence for outstanding journalistic work based on merit. He noted that the positive engagement between the media and Promasidor has made the Promasidor's products market leaders in their segments.
