Continuous voter registration: Enugu declares 3-day public holiday

The Enugu State Government has declared May 28 to 30 as public holidays in order to enable residents participate in the Continuous Voter Registration, CVR, in the state.

This is contained in a statement issued by Chuks Ugwoke, Commissioner for Information, in Enugu on Monday.

It directed residents who had turned 18 years and above after the last exerciser in 2011 to do so to enable them vote during the 2015 general elections.

The statement also urged those who had not registered at all and new residents in the state to take advantage of the holidays to register.

Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has advised those seeking to transfer their cards to the state to apply to local governments to receive the new voter card.

This is contained in a statement by the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Lawrence Azubuike, in Enugu.

The statement urged them to submit their applications to its offices in the 17 local governments between May 26 and May 27.

The conduct of continuous voter registration will commence in Enugu from May 28 to June 1.
