BringBackOurGirls Team Takes Protest To Presidential Villa Thursday

BEVERLY HILLS, CA, May 21, (THEWILL) â€' The advocacy group for the abducted Chibok girls, BringBackOurGirls Team, will embark on a protest march to the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja on Thursday.

A statement signed by the Coordinator of the team, Hadiza Bala Usman, Wednesday, said the protest is in continuation of the team's citizens' engagement over the need for the authorities concerned to take the lead in safely rescuing the over 200 schoolgirls still in custody of Boko Haram.

The statement said, 'as the President and Chief Security Officer of the country, this movement deemed it necessary to take its cry and demand to His Excellency, President Goodluck Jonathan.'

It therefore implored those intending to participate in the protest to convene by 2:30pm at the usual venue of the #BringBackOurGirls village square meetings, Unity Fountain, adjacent to Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Maitama, from where the march will commence at 3pm.

'The Thursday peaceful demonstration is sequel to similar such engagements such as those we've had with the National Assembly, the National Security Adviser, the Defence Headquarters, and the Borno State Governor.'

'Leaders of this movement have also had a fruitful exchange with the National Security Adviser. It is the wish of this movement that this engagement will catalyse positive action towards quick rescue of our abducted girls.Members of the public who share the passion and mission of this movement are hereby invited to join the march,' the statement added.
