The Majority leader of the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon. Chief (Mrs) Adaku Ihuoma, has explained that there is no rationale whatsoever or any kind of pressure on the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu, to resign from his office or step aside to enable the Committee or Panel investigating malicious newspaper publications against him, carry out a thorough job.
The majority leader who represents Ahiazu Mbaise in Imo House of Assembly Owerri, says this is because the said allegations of corrupt practices were merely leveled by a personal aide of the Speaker, one Citizen Samuelson Iwuoha who has since trivialized the issues raised in his spurious accusations by dramatizing them for personal gains, benefits or gratifications.
On why the Speaker readily constituted the panel of enquiry in the first place, Lady Ihuoma opined that it was to prove that Uwajumogu has no skeletons in his cupboard. She added that Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu has been into road construction and runs a conglomerate or chain of companies long before he became the Speaker of the House of Assembly and so has made enough money to acquire just any kind of property or wealth.
She then posited that had the allegations evolved or emanated from the floor of the House, it would have become inevitable for him to resign while investigations are conducted to ascertain his level of complicity or otherwise. She condemned Samuelson Iwuoha for churning out frivolous allegations against his former boss long after he was sent packing from his appointment as Media Assistant to the Speaker. According to her, Samuelson's action was born out of frustrations, misplaced aggression and bitterness. She likened the allegation to citizen Iwuoha's well known act of blackmail and character assassination.
It was on this note that she retorted, “why didn't Samuelson make this allegations while he was still in office?” describing herself as the best Ahiazu Mbaise LGA has had in the last 12 years, she then boasted that she has performed excellently, not only as the majority leader of the House but by giving effective and resourceful representation. “Ahiazu Mbaise LGA has seen the difference in the delivery of Dividends of Democracy. In appreciation of the numerous achievements recorded by her in the areas of health care system, education, rural roads, Youth empowerment and wealth generation, Stakeholders and leaders of thought in the area, “decided that she will be promoted to the Federal House of Representatives”, Abuja” she says.
The resilient lawmaker said the Assembly has so far passed 50 bills, 50% of which were executive sponsored which she as Majority Leader raised on the floor of the House.
She dismissed the misconception that an abortion bill was passed by the Assembly, and averred that contrary to wicked insinuations and politicization, the bill was a private one which sought to prohibit violence against persons especially the vulnerable ones like women, children and the less privileged.
On how many lives has positively touched and impacted upon. Lady Adaku Ihuoma, married to Chief Dr. Ihuoma, of Otulu Ahiara presented a score-card of many youths in her employ, the 72 women who are enjoying her credit facilities at no interest rate for their trading and business activities, and the 2 boys she sponsored abroad who were product of her talent hunt, having displayed brilliant football skills during her football tournament. On APC on which platform she is contesting for the Ahiazu/Ezinihitte Federal Constituency, having dumped PDP, she deplored the idea of calling APC a Muslim party or that it is a Northern Party. This she said is like the kettle calling pot black.
“From number one to number six positions of Nigerian leasers today, under the PDP platform you will not see a single Igbo man”. Apart from President Goodluck Jonathan the rest including the Senate President, Speaker Federal House of Representatives, Chief Justice of the Federation, Inspector General of Defense Staff to whom the Chief of Army staff reports are all Northerners. APC is neither a Muslim party nor a Hausa Party, it is a Nigeria party just like PDP, she concluded.
