‘Team Obiano’ holds Strategic Retreat for Anambra

The newly inaugurated cabinet of the administration of Chief Willie Obiano in Anambra State rose from a two-day strategic retreat over the weekend in Awka, with sharper vision and keener focus on meeting and surpassing the expectations of Anambrarians through a committed implementation of the programmes and policies of the state.

The Retreat which also had Senior Special Assistants, Permanent Secretaries and other key functionaries in attendance witnessed high octane sessions of brain-storming and dialogues on the most effective and results-driven approaches that would reposition Anambra State to play a leading role in the on-going economic renaissance of the country.

Organized in partnership with Nextzon Business Services, the Retreat began on upbeat tone when the Governor, Chief Obiano identified teamwork, innovativeness, dynamism, tenacity and reward for hard-work as the core values of his administration.

The governor who spoke in an inspiring tone espoused the vision and strategic thrust of his administration while emphasizing that the aforementioned core values are fundamental to the realization of the overall objectives of his administration.

Said he; 'It is imperative that everyone understands the vision and mission of this administration early enough in order to effectively harness the ideas in the Economic Blueprint and exploit the opportunities therein to develop Anambra State.'

According to him, the retreat provided a veritable platform for the Executive Members of his cabinet to re-engage the ideas already articulated in the blueprint and where necessary expand them for greater effectiveness in the service of the people.

He charged each member of the team to shun all forms of corruption and get rich quick tendencies and promote a culture of transparency and accountability by bringing their wealth of experience and expertise to bear on their work to ensure greater innovativeness and dynamism which would in turn lead to increased productivity.

Governor Obiano also advised Ndi Anambra in the Diaspora to begin to evaluate the attractive benefits of redirecting their investments homewards in order to take advantage of the emerging windows of investment that his administration is poised to create with a comprehensive implementation of his economic blueprint known as the Four Pillars of Development.

Speaking on the benefits of the retreat, the Principal Secretary to the Governor Mr Willie Nwokoye, observed that the retreat would instantly establish a strong bond among the political appointees through the various discussions and dialogues which would sharpen perspectives and create a unanimity of focus in the team.

Said he; 'Going forward all functionaries will situate every clause, every paragraph and every line of the economic blueprint within the framework of their daily engagement.'

In the same vein, Hon Commissioner for Education, Professor Kate Emenugha observed that the Retreat provided an opportunity for cross-fertilization of ideas on the government's vision and mission.

Also speaking Special Assistant to the Governor on Interparty and Political Matters, Chief Ben Obi said that the forum had enhanced job definition and prepared the members of the executive and all political appointees for the challenges ahead.

Society's enduring virtues of love, unity and brotherhood are some of the central themes that dominated the Inaugural Address of the new Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano after taking the oath of office, Monday, in an elaborate ceremony in Awka, the Anambra State capital.

In a highly inspiring address titled, Expanding the Frontiers of Excellence; Obiano who is the fourth democratically elected governor Anambra State sought to rouse the consciousness of ndi Anambra by reminding them of the Igbo industry and ingenuity when he said 'a people who astonished the world with their ingenuity and resourcefulness during wartime can lend a weighty hand to efforts to re-make our world in peace-time.' The time has come to prove to ourselves that the entrepreneurial spirit for which we are known all over the world can take firm roots at home; that together as one we can be masters.' He asserted.

Obiano's call for love was further affirmed by President Jonathan through his representative Senator Ben Ndi Obi, an adviser on Inter-party affairs who said that the present peaceful dispensation which the state enjoys evidently displayed at the celebrations should be sustained. President Jonathan confirmed public speculations about Governor Obi political career at the Presidency as a soon to be federal executive council member.

The celebration marked a united front by politicians in the state with all local governments and their officials present despite their political inclinations. It is the first time in the history of Anambra State of a successful transition of power between two governors in a civil and democratic atmosphere.

In an emotional laden speech the outgoing Governor Obi in clear terms advised Governor Obiano that 'Your agreement is with the children of Anambra state. Give them a better future, give them a better Anambra and it will be well with you. You are not indebted to anybody. I am not indebted to anybody. I came with my car I leave with my car back to my home.'

Celebrations were held in all local governments presided over council chairmen aside the state capital, Awka where the inauguration took place to usher in the new government. It was a colourful display of dancers, masquerades and female groups who took to the streets to celebrate the transition.
