Director General of the National Youth  Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Johnson Bamidele Olawumi, handed down this warning at the weekend with just  few days to the commencement of  the compulsory one year NYSC programme by  the 2014 Batch 'A' Corps members.

Olawumi, who spoke in Benin, the Edo State capital,  during a working visit to the NYSC camp in Okada, Ovia North/East Local Government Area, urged the corps members to exhibit high level of discipline as they set out for the mandatory one year national service.

Addressing the corps members who are currently undergoing their three weeks orientation course programme in the state, Olawumi said that corps members need not be partisan while on national service.

He cautioned them not to allow themselves to be used by politicians for selfish interest against the aspirations of the nation.

Specifically, he told the corps members who will be participating in the forth coming 2015 general elections not to involve themselves in any electoral malpractice no matter the situation they may find themselves during the national exercise.

According to him, the one year service is a sacrifice to the nation and therefore charged them to be ready to serve diligently, adding that they must strive not to tarnish the image of the scheme, the trust and the confidence that government has in them as leaders of tomorrow.

Olawumi charged them not to sell their conscience, saying "Money is not everything," stressing that they  are expected to display  high level standards and discipline in their  states of posting and areas of primary assignment.
