COMMUNIQUE ON THE STATE OF NIGERIA NATION

By IHEMELU AZUBIKE

A non-political /governmental organization Concerned Citizens Initiative of Nigeria on Saturday 8th March, 2014 issued a three point communiqué on 'the State of Nigeria Nation' after their 17th Annual general meeting in Abuja. They states as follows:-

v ON NATIONAL CONFAB:- we must appreciate President Jonathan for having such thing in his agenda. Therefore, we advice all Nigerians to support him. On the other hand, it is regrettable lugubrious that Ohaneze Ndi-Igbo have bastardized themselves. Ohaneze is the only non relevant pan ethnic group in the country that is full of political jobbers, unpatriotic and egocentric politicians. We therefore advise the group to stop endorsing anybody for 2015 election for now, because it still far. However, we also advise Ohaneze to settle their problem amicable not on the pages of national dailies (news papers).

v ON CENTENARY CELEBRATION: - it is a mere celebration of gross ethnic injustices, corruption and theatre of genocide. What are we celebrating if we may ask? Are we celebrating ethnic conflict and bloodletting that have become issue of the day since amalgamation? The legacy of genocide that led to civil war? The everyday terrorist attack/militancy/kidnapping of innocent Nigerians? The most corrupt and unjust country in the world? The epileptic power supple? The bad road network? The religious bigotry and ethnic chauvinism? The confusing Nigeria constitution? The corrupt judicial system? The misnomer in the explicable fact that we import fuel even when we are one of the world's largest producer of crude oil? The constant rigging of election? What and what are we celebrating for Christ sake? It is just mere celebration targeting to siphon Nigeria economy.

v ON CENTENARY AWARD CONTROVERSIES: - We must commend the families of Late Gani Fewehinmi and Fela and Prof. Wole Soyinka for rejecting the award. We also applaud Soyinka's boldness to state his reasons and able to stand fame with the people of Ogoin and Ken Saro- Wiwa's inhumanity and environmental deterioration. Furthermore, the recent attack from Sadiq Abacha on Prof. Wole Soyinka is barbaric and sardonic. Sadiq Abacha should have known that his father's inhumanity to Nigerians remain what deposited Nigeria in a state of economic quagmires, political phantasmagoria, and social stupor. His father's leadership was a veritable bugaboo which must pooh poohed by all Cosmopetis Homo sapiens.

We therefore advise Sadiq Abacha to render unconditional apology to Prof. Wole Soyinka on or before 30th March, 2014. The apology must be publishing in at least ten (10) national dailies. Any failure of doing that will thwart national protest.

In addition to the above, we apply to all Nigeria to join us in National fasting and prayer that will hold on Sunday 30th March, 2014, at National Christian Center, Abuja. This program is to mourn all innocent Nigerians killed by Boko Haram insurgent in the North-East and to present 2015 general election in the hand of God.

Finally, we urge President Goodluck Jonathan to find a lasting solution to the Shedding of innocent blood; rape; kidnapping and social injustices which have became everyday tonic in Nigeria. Please now is the best time not tomorrow.

Thanks
Long live C.C.I.N! Long live federal republic of Nigeria!!

Signed
