Three fake operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have been apprehended in Bayelsa State.

According to Daily Sun investigations, the fake EFCC officials had stormed the Environmental Sanitation Authority with some mobile policemen brandishing an arrest order for the Director-General of the Agency, Mr. Reginald Dede.

Dede, eyewitness accounts said, was immediately suspicious of their mission and quickly placed some calls to his boys to come to the office.

The mobile policemen who accompanied the fake officials were outside in the car they brought when they saw a sizeable number of boys entering the agency office and realizing that this could be trouble they hurriedly abandoned the car and disappeared.

Inside the agency, sources said Dede started questioning the fake operatives demanding to know their status at the EFCC and what investigation of the agency they were handling that warranted his arrest.

At a time the fake operatives were said to have brought out their identity cards to prove their innocence but after more barrages of questions and with Dede's boys now forcing their way into his office, the fake operatives confessed that they were not from the EFCC.

Sources said the boys confiscated their identity cards and beat them thoroughly before the police were called to arrest them.

The police later came to tow away the Toyota Camry vehicle. It has been impounded at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID)

Sources at the CID confirmed the incident and said the department had begun investigations about the true identity of the suspects.

He said their identity cards and car had been recovered and the police would ensure that it got to the root of the matter.

According to him, the suspects were offering useful information helping the police in their investigations.
