FORMER governorship candidate of the Democratic Peoples Party, DPP in Delta State, Olorogun Great Ovedje Ogboru has described Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as a politician and activist who wants to function as a banker, saying that his suspension by President Goodluck Jonathan was long overdue.

Ogboru who made this known during an interactive session with journalists, said the manner at which Mallam Sanusi has been conducting himself since he assumed office in 2009 was worrisome, adding that the office of a CBN governor is a sensitive one that requires decorum and not noise-making as Sanusi portrayed it.

He stated further, “Sanusi is a politician and activist who wants to function as a banker which is not possible in view of the sensitive and conservative nature of the office of the CBN Governor. Sanusi lacks decorum and this is unbecoming of the position of a central bank governor who is supposed to be conservative .

“It is against the ethics of public administration for an employee of a government to be fighting against the system which he is part of, with a view to pulling the government down. Sanusi has turned himself to a politician and activist and this is unbecoming of a professional banker.

You cannot combine politics and activism with banking and expect things to be alright.

The three are not mutually related. So if Sanusi wants to be a politician and activist, he should resign his appointment and when he fails to do so, the president has every right to suspend him, so that he can face his politics and activism”.
