The crisis in APC has continued to deepen following moves by Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, former Kwara State Governor, Bukola Saraki and former FCT Minister, Nasir El-Rufai to prevail on the party to shut the 2015 Presidential election door against Muhammadu Buhari.

It was gathered that the northern politicians supported by some freshly defected leaders made the request at a closed door meeting in Ibadan during the meeting of APC leaders.

A source at the meeting said that the position of the northern group was presented by Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso. The presentation led to immediate uproar in the hall as Buhari supporters kicked against the plot.

It was learnt that Kwankwaso told the meeting that presenting Buhari in 2015 will make it easier for Jonathan to coast to victory as Buhari cannot be marketed in the South.

He urged the meeting to consider younger Presidential aspirants who have ties with the south to confront Jonathan.

Prior to the presentation Kwankwaso, Saraki and el-Rufai had consulted widely amongst southern political interest groups. They particularly wooed Okorocha and Amaechi who have positioned themselves for Vice President.

The uproar generated by Kwankwaso's request almost disrupted the meeting but for the intervention of South West governors who asked that deliberation on the matter be postponed until further consultations were made.

Attempts by Scan News to get official response from Governor Kwankwaso on the matter are yet to yield fruit. However, once he responds, Scan News shall furnish readers with the details.

Meanwhile, top Buhari supporters have commenced wide consultation to nip in the bud attempts to shove him aside by Kwankwaso, Saraki and el-Rufai.

However, it remains unclear how Kwankwaso, Saraki and el-Rufai intend to manage their Presidential aspirations, if they succeed in pushing APC Deputy National Leader aside.
