Not less than 15,000 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State.

The former APC members were led by the former governor of Imo State Chief Achike Udenwa, Chief Mike Ahamba, and a former secretary to Imo State government,Chief Cosmas Iwu among others.

Senator Ifeanyi Araraume had earlier announced his defection to PDP.

Among those that decamped from APGA was Senator Chris Anyanwu, who is representing Owerri zone in the National Assembly.

Welcoming them at a PDP rally held in Owerri yesterday, President Goodluck Jonathan advised the decampees to close ranks with other people in order to reclaim Imo in 2015.

The President advised other Imo people who were yet to join the PDP to do before the doors were closed, stressing that with the return of the political 'bulldozers' in the State, “nobody is left behind”.

He said that Imo from inception of the present political dispensation is a PDP-State, promising to ensure that history was repeated in 2015.

He described PDP as the only stable party that had not changed its ideology and logo, declaring that there is no other political party in Imo again.

In his words, the national chairman of PDP Dr. Ahmed Adamu Mu'azu regretted the loss of Imo State due to internal wrangling, assuring that the party would now present its first eleven for elections to ensure victory.

Mu'azu reminded those aspiring for positions in the party of the need to recognise that power comes from God, urging them to work together for the interest of the party in the State.
