A few months ago the Edo State chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Dan Orbih announced to the good people of Edo state and Nigerians at large, that a whopping N320 million was missing or stolen from the coffers of SUBEB of the state Ministry of Education.

It was alleged that a grand scheme to cover-up the fraud was been perpetuated by the Adams Oshiomhole led EDSG.

The governor went to the length of denying that any money was missing. The governor claimed that “money as no legs”, and urged the people of Edo state to ignore the expose by the Dan Orbih -led PDP.

In their typical response to PDP criticisms, Oshiomhole and his spokesman, Kassim Afegbua arrogantly described PDP and Chief Dan Orbih as “busy bodies”.

When it became apparent that Governor Oshiomhole was going to sweep the matter under the rug, Edo PDP petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate the matter.

EFCC has charged Oshiomhole's former Secretary to State Government (SSG), Dr. Imokheme, former Chairman of the SUBEB board Sir Emoabino and several others to court.

On the 20th of February, 2014. EFCC arraigned those appointees of Oshiomhole before a High Court 3 of the State.

It is being speculated that a huge part of the “missing” money ended up in the purse of the 2012 re-election campaign organisation of Adams Oshiomhole.

Already, speculation is rife that but for the immunity enjoyed by Oshiomhole (as a serving governor) he too would have been charged alongside his officials.

Thankfully, governors' immunity do not last a lifetime. Also, there is no time frame for a crime. Oshiomhole can and will be prosecuted the moment his tenure as governor lapses in 2016.

It is noteworthy to remind Edo people that a mysterious fire gutted the records' department of the Edo State Ministry of Education the moment EFCC began investigating the matter.

Edo PDP is committed to playing its watchdog role for the good people of Edo State whose commonwealth some persons have turned into personal accounts. Edo PDP shall continue to stand in the way of people bent on converting government ministries/agencies into personal ATM!

Edo people have had enough of the bitter pills forced down their throats by Adams Oshiomhole. The time has come take back Edo State!
