SAN FRANCISCO, February 21, (THEWILL) - A group of Borno women under the aegis of Borno Concern Women Forum Friday said the current reactive attitude of the Federal Government and its agencies to the Boko Haram insurgency would not go anywhere in solving the problem.

In a statement signed by Aisha Ali Suleiman, the group said the Federal Government's current reactive posture towards the insurgency will not achieve much until proactive steps are taken.

"We feel we are duty bound to add our voice to the call on Federal Government to take proactive measures against the insurgents instead of being reactive after attacks," the women said.

They also called on the National Assembly members from Borno State to work towards ensuring that the Federal Government contribute to the well-being of people of the state and support the efforts of Governor Ibrahim Shettima in rehabilitating the victims of the insurgency.

They also expressed support for Shettima's efforts aimed at providing succour for victims of the four-year-old insurgency by rebuilding their destroyed houses and footing the medical bills of those injured.

The group however lamented that the recent attacks have dampened the morale of the people and rubbished the peace initiative of government.
