The Jigawa State Universal Basic Education Board on Thursday directed the Jahun Local Government to stop the salaries of six teachers in the council.

The Secretary of the board, Alhaji Idris Wurno, gave the directive during an inspection of primary and junior secondary schools in Jahun.

'The steps were taken because of the teachers' negligence of duty,' he said.

Wurno also directed the Education Secretary of the council, Alhaji Arab Aujara, to issue query to 11 other teachers in the area for laxity.

'Four headmasters and one teacher should also be given commendation letters for their hard work and dedication,' he said.

Earlier, the Education Secretary said the visit was commendable and that it would guide the affected teachers against irresponsible actions in the future.
