Gov Dickson Commends Army For Dedication And Professionalism, Calls For Dynamic Security System For Improved Security Of Lives And Property

Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson on Thursday underscored the need to evolve a dynamic security system towards improving security of lives and property, as security is fundamental to the development and growth of any society.

 
Governor Dickson made the assertion when the new General Officer Commanding, (GOC) 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Shehu Yusuf paid him a courtesy visit in Government House, Yenagoa.

 
According to the Governor, his administration has since its inception left no one in doubt of its stance regarding security issues through the promulgation of laws to implement the policy on zero tolerance to crime and criminality in the State.

 
“I want to use this opportunity to commend the dedication and professionalism of your officers and men who clearly have been doing a wonderful job. Those on ground in Bayelsa whom at the risk of life and limb, day and night patrol the creeks and rivulets of our state to protect our national assets and also to safeguard our individual liberties, lives and property. I want to report to you that they are doing an excellent job but there is room for improvement.”

Commending the various security agencies for their professionalism in the discharge of their duties, Governor Dickson expressed Government's willingness to continually partner with them for the enthronement of an enduring peace and security.

 
He congratulated Major General Yusuf on his new appointment as GOC, 82 Division, Nigerian Army and particularly lauded the Military for its efforts at safeguarding democratic principles.

 
Earlier, the GOC 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Shehu Musa said, he was in the State as part of his familiarization tour of States under his division following his elevation as GOC and the appointment of his predecessor as Chief of Army Staff.

 
He thanked the State Government for its support to the security personnel as well as the cordial relationship existing between them, assuring that he would do his best to build on the relationship.

 
He promised to tackle security challenges confronting areas under the 82 Division by constantly strategizing on ways to improve security, adding that, he would assess and review security operations.
