2014 Budget: Delta Assembly Passes N450.7 Billion

SAN FRANCISCO, February 20, (THEWILL) - The Delta State House of Assembly under the Speakership of Rt.

Honourable Victor Ochei, Wednesday, passed a N450.
7 billion naira 2014 appropriations bills for the oil rich state.

A breakdown of the budget which was upped by N59 billion from the initial proposal received from the Executive Governor of the State, Dr.

Emmanuel Uduaghan, showed that N162 billion representing 36 percent has been earmarked for recurrent expenditure while N289 billion, representing 64 percent, will go to capital expenditure.

Governor Uduaghan had presented a N391.
51 billion budget proposal for the 2014 fiscal year, comprising N159.

78 billion or 48.
8 per cent for recurrent expenditure and N231.
72 billion or 59.
1 per cent for capital expenditure.
Chairman, House Finance and Appropriations Committee, Mr.

Daniel Mayuku, in a chat with journalists said, the House increased the proposed budget 'to enable better completion of ongoing capital projects in the state as this is the last full year budget of the current administration.

If this administration must finish strong, then ongoing capital projects must be better funded.
