FCT Minister, Bala Mohammed, out of Bauchi Guber Race

The gubernatorial ambition of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Senator Bala Mohammed, may have died a natural death.

Pointblanknews.com sources hinted that this is sequel to the   insistence of some of his kinsmen  that another senatorial zone produced the next Governor, and the  emergence of the new chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Adamu Mùazu. .

Mohammed had been one of the ministers penciled down to exit the president Goodluck Jonathan's cabinet to pursue gubernatorial ambitions.

History between Mohammed and Muazu dates back to the days before the PDP chairman, and Ex Bauchi Governor,  M'uazu went into oblivion. He had  tried to be  Senator in the Bauchi Central zone but was defeated by Mohammed.

Later, M'uazu bankrolled a candidate who ran against Governor Isa Yuguda who was backed by Mohammed as well.. His (Muazu) man was beaten. Interestingly, Mohammed became a Special Adviser to Yuguda where he continued to feather his political nest while he and M'uazu became sworn political enemies.

It is also interesting to know that Ex president Olusegun Obasanjo did not like M'uazu so ensured his (Muazu), lackey was defeated by Yuguda.

So when the spot for FCT minister came up Yuguda picked Mohammed . he was backed by the Emir of Bauchi whose daughter is Mohammed's second wife. Yuguda , it was learnt did not bless the choice but because Mohammed had been one of the Senators who pushed for President Jonathan to assume office, his nomination sailed through.

Today, with the return of M'uazu, Yuguda has no choice but to team up with chairman of the party who is not so disposed to the FCT chairman.

Pointblanknews.com sources however hinted that the PDP chairman did not harbor any ill feeling towards Mohammed but was disposed to allowing some other zone produce the next Governor. But another school of thought contends that the chairman, considering the antecedents of Mohammed, Muazu was not too comfortable.

According to findings, the trio, Muazu, Mohammed and Yuguda are all from Bauchi Central. The mood in the state however is that the Bauchi North senatorial zone should get the Governorship spot.

The front liner in that happens to be Senator Abdul Ningi, who looks good to grabbing the slot. According to our source, all the stake holders and Muazu are comfortable with the arrangement plus the candidature of Ningi.

It is not quite clear where Mohammed would go from FCT, but speculations had this week linked him with the position of the Chief of Staff to President Goodluck Jonathan.
