All-Share Index grows by 1.96% after week-long market slump

Equity trading on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) closed on a high on Monday as the All-Share Index rose by 794.8 basis points or 1.96 per cent to close at 41,366.42 basis points after a week-long market slump.

The market capitalisation of the listed equities also rose by N255bn or 1.96 per cent to close at N13.260tn, up from Friday's close of N13.005tn.

With the exception of the NSE ASeM Index, which closed flat, and the NSE Industrial Index, which declined by 0.21 per cent, all other sectoral indices appreciated.

The NSE Oil and Gas Index, which rose by 5.16 per cent to close at 317.89 basis points, was the top performing index for Monday.
